Beautiful writing by Ope in Year 6
Learning objective: To write an invention as the fifth voice, from the story Voices in the Park.
Brightening up the world, the shimmering sun shone down. The aromas of the sweet pleasures of life had ascended into the air, evaporating in the sky. Although it seemed like a joyous occasion, it appeared not to be. Sofia’s world was full of sorrow and hatred towards her dominating, devious dad. Usually, Sofia was protective of her freedom: the only chance she got to be away from her overshadowing father. Gladly, she would take any chance for freedom.
As a result of Sofia’s paternalistic father, she had no companions. Entering the park, she immediately realised there was no point. A wave of regret washed over her. Unexpectedly, Sofia heard an unusual timbre in the distance. She climbed up the nearest tree, curious to find out what that peculiar noise was. High up in the luscious verdant tree, Sofia could see the whole park. What a spectacular sight it was. Out of the corner of her eye she saw it. Her cousin (Charles) and a strange girl were playing on a slide.
Tears filled her icy sapphire-blue eyes, as the exasperation inside her, rose up and turned against her. Consuming her and overpowering her. Envy, hatred and jealousy took over her; she no longer had control of her emotions. The only desire she’d ever had was to have a friend, someone who would stand beside her in the times of trouble. Sofia’s heart ached at the thought of never having a friend, so she decided that if she couldn’t have what she longed for the most, then no one could.
